Four One-of-a-Kind Cruises with Princess Cruises

May 1, 2023

With the start of summer right around the corner, it is time to start planning for the ultimate vacation. This year is a great time to break away from the traditional cruise and try one of these one-of-a-kind cruises that provide the perfect opportunity to brag to family and friends that you have something special in store.

Cruising with Crowns Ahead of the Coronation

Princess Cruises is a most apt name for the way their upscale elegant ships make guests feel like royalty. Now, two special cruises allow passengers to celebrate the once-in-a-lifetime commemoration of King Charles III’s coronation.

Guests on Regal Princess and Sky Princess ships will be able to watch the coronation on the jumbotron typically used for their “Movie Under the Stars” entertainment. Guests will be treated to the sweetness of Victoria sponge cake on the top deck and delight in the savory fish and chips the United Kingdom is famous for at the ship’s Fresh Marketplace.

Most excitingly, passengers will be afforded an indulgent royal afternoon tea experience, where every British classic will be served.

After afternoon tea, head to the ship’s Piazza while wearing royal red, blue or white to party under royal color-inspired banners for a unique dress-up night. Guests will also be joined onboard by Grant Harrold, a former butler to the King, who will be presenting on royal etiquette, the life of a former British Royal Household member and other royal commentaries. Passengers on the Sky Princess will experience the exclusive Royal Variety Show, a live entertainment production that includes a special Elton John tribute.

Guests can get into the coronation spirit by playing Royal Trivia, a coronation cruise exclusive game about all the present and past royals. Skits and games about royal life will be incorporated into the traditional Princess Live!, an all day non-stop live action entertainment show.

The Total Experience with the Total Solar Eclipse

Jump aboard the Emerald Princess and take part in the rare opportunity to view a total solar eclipse amongst the beauty of the Mexican Riviera. The astronomical phenomenon will not be viewable again in North America until 2044, and what better way to view it than on the open water?

The 15-day Panama Canal cruise will provide both the necessary protective eyewear to view the eclipse and themed refreshments. Passengers will be joined by space exploration enthusiast Fred Clink who will guide guests through the process of the natural phenomenon. During the eclipse, specialty themed drinks and food will be passed out.

In addition to the eclipse, passengers can choose from onshore excursions such as visiting a crocodile sanctuary during an eco-tour, taking a cultural tour of Mexico’s indigenous villages or channeling your inner mermaid with a small snorkeling session.

The Alaskan Adventure with Jeff Corwin

Alaska’s breathtaking beauty is a treat on its own, but the addition of Emmy-award winning television personality and renowned wildlife biologist, Jeff Corwin, aboard your cruise makes the experience even more exciting!

All fans aboard the Sapphire Princess during this special cruise will be regaled by Corwin’s interactive and inspirational presentation about Alaska, wildlife conservation and his explorations around the globe. Guests will also have the opportunity for a meet-and-greet photo session with Corwin. Corwin will also be hosting special onshore events in Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan.

Princess Cruises will also be expanding the Wild for Alaska menu to be destination inspired and for Corwin to provide all passengers with a one-of-a-kind elevated dining experience. Wild for Alaska is an industry-first, location-based initiative offering an extensive collection of seafood dishes.

Icon takes everything that Royal Caribbean does best and amplifies it. Some of the features seen on other Royal Caribbean ships are brought back for the Icon, but with a twist. The beloved AquaTheater makes its return on the Icon, now as the centerpiece of the new AquaDome neighborhood, where guests can do everything from watch dancers fly across the stage in high-tech 3D shows to relax in the glass dome with unmatched 220-degree views of the ocean.

Never-seen-before activities include Pressure Drop, the first open freefall waterslide on a ship. What also sets the Icon apart is its ability to be a true crowd pleaser. Areas such as Surfside offer kid-approved aquaparks and include adults-only pools with bars that serve both cocktail and mocktail options.

Cut it, Chop It, Cruise It!

Learning new culinary skills on the high seas are something any foodie would take advantage of.

Princess Cruises is hosting a 7-Day Spain and France “Culinary Stars” themed cruise. Passengers will be joined by legendary television chefs: Ainsley Harriott MBE, Hairy Biker Si King and French favorite Jean-Christophe Novelli. Each celebrated chef will be sharing their secrets to spicing up any meal and several recipes you can take home.

When not enjoying one of the delicious celebrity gastronomic feasts, passengers can choose from six distinct onboard restaurants or participate in a shore excursion, such as a tasting of the opulent, regional Bordeaux wines in France or sampling fresh market vegetables in Spain.

In addition, passengers can choose a day of perusing local port markets in the “Market to Plate” program, chatting it up with top-tier cooks about the best recipes or taking their own Basque Master Class cooking class. The cruise has it all for the friendly food lover.
