Sydney Australia

Sydney is a vibrant city packed with some of the most beautiful sightseeing spots in the world. The beauty of places such as the famed Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge have been attracting visitors for years. But as remarkable as these iconic locations are, there is much more to Sydney than meets the eye. With countless treasures to see and things to do, both within city limits and in the quieter outskirts, Sydney offers so much culture, history and activity for visitors!

What to Do

Perched in the middle of Sydney Harbor, the Sydney Opera House is one of the most iconic and beautiful concert halls in the world to see. The outside of the multi-venue marvel is an architectural masterpiece, catching the eye of all who pass. Touring the inside is just as impressive, as you get to walk the halls where countless legendary performers have played.

Overlooking Sydney Opera House from the west is the impressive Harbor Bridge. This magnificent steel structure offers some incredible landscapes of the entire harbor. But while looking at the bridge can be beautiful, the view from on it is unparalleled. Bridgeclimb Sydney is one company that guides guests on a climb on the mighty bridge, where you’ll be able to gaze out into the surrounding harbor from the very top and take in the full beauty of the city!

While there is much to do in the city center, the suburbs of Sydney are filled with many local treasures to explore. Sydney is home to a range of bespoke art galleries and theatres in the picturesque suburbs of Redfern, Surry Hills, Eveleigh and Marrickville. Transport back to colonial Sydney in the 1800s at Vaucluse House, wander through the greenery at Hyde Park in Sydney’s center or ride a bike and feed the ducks among the mammoth Australian fig trees in Centennial Parklands.

You can also visit bustling bars around the Enmore neighborhood, catch the ferry to Cockatoo Island, jump on a rollercoaster at Luna Park and meander through Darlinghurst and Newtown gazing at street art.

What to Eat

Sydney locals are borderline obsessed with good coffee and the café scene in Sydney’s Central Business District is nothing short of a fierce competition. If you love a bold cup of coffee in the morning, we suggest you get out early because coffee shops get packed quickly. Though locals will argue on behalf of their favorite spot, many agree that Gumption by Coffee Alchemy is easily ranked in the upper echelon of cafés.

For the more adventurous eater, Sydney has a couple of delicious proteins native only to Australia, such as kangaroo, which can be found in many restaurants and served in a myriad of ways. Kangaroo is a lean, succulent red meat and typically served as a filet, as a burger or even on top of pizza.

Speedos Cafe in Bondi is situated right on the beach and offers an incredible breakfast menu all day long. This place has been there for a few years, but they’ve recently been labeled the most Instagrammable cafe around, and they’re about to explode in popularity – get in quick!

When to Go

The best time to visit Sydney is either Australia’s late spring, which is October – November, or in their early fall between March – April. Student summer vacations in Australia take place during December and January. During these months, the city and surrounding areas become more crowded and travel costs are typically more expensive. Traveling just before or just after the summer months will reward you with less waiting, less cost and the same beautiful weather!
